Food for thought...

22nd December 2010 will mark a year since I started this Twitter journey of mine. One of the things I (you would have too) have noticed through the last year is that geosocial networking activities have increased. The idea is that you use location based social mobile applications such as Gowalla, foursquare, or the recently launched Facebook Places to check-in at...well, places. You then have a choice of pairing up with your existing Twitter or Facebook account to, essentially, tell people where you are.
Simple enough.
However, just some advise for newbie geolocation-ers. If you do have some sort of a *secret place you would rather remain a secret, checking in may not be the best idea. Take it from Batman himself.
So, whether you are passing through the Brunei International Airport or you are the Mayor of Thann Sanctuary Spa, check-in wisely and enjoy the rest of your 2010!
*Secret places may include places like your home, childcare facilities, your friend's home, etc. Some places are best left a secret.

Greetings Readers! It is Friday, 3rd December 2010 and as expected all the buzz on the #Brunei search on Twitter is about the highly anticipated launch of the BlackBerry. I have used an iPhone, I am currently using an Android, but I have never used a BlackBerry before. Maybe like me, you have heard plenty of great things about the range of features and functions it has to offer. Maybe you are considering 'upgrading' from your current unit, or just plain curious about the feel, user-interface, and this money-saving BBM BlackBerry feature fans swear by.
Well, here is a funny comic made by C-Section Comics about how BlackBerry, Android and iPhone users see each other. This comic probably won't help you in your decision, but hopefully it will crack open a smile as you decide one among the others.
Have a great rest of 2010 everyone!
Big Love.

Social Media intrigues me. The exchange of user-generated content through a few clicks, touches and swipes through Web 2.0 technologies simply holds my attention. Rob Angeles had me on the edge of my seat at the B2.0 when he spoke about Social Media, following which I wrote down the following question: "How social are we?"

I flipped through my moleskine over the weekend, read the question again, and started digging for raw data.

This is what I found.

Keyword search of 'Brunei Darussalam' on MySpace:

153,000 results under MySpace

Keyword searches on YouTube:

Brunei - 5,280 results

(Highest rated videos: Concert performances by Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson in 1996)

Brunei Darussalam - 1,640 results

(Highest rated videos: Silat Suffian and Michael Jackson dance tribute)

Keyword searches on Digg:

Brunei - 850 results

Brunei Darussalam: 115 results

Keyword searches on Delicious:

Brunei: 1,897 bookmarks

Brunei Darussalam: 198 bookmarks

Keyword searches on Tweetmeme:

Brunei: 843 links

Brunei Darussalam: 75 links

Keyword searches on Gowalla:

Brunei: 103 Places

Brunei Darussalam: 21 Places

Most check-ins: Times Square Brunei (219 check-ins)

Most people: Brunei International Airport (172 people)

Keyword searches on Facebook:

Brunei: 515 Pages, 562 Groups

Brunei Darussalam: 430 Pages, 420 Groups

Most popular Page: Brunei FM with 29,498 'likes'

These results are of course inconclusive because not everything Bruneian is tagged under 'Brunei' or 'Brunei Darussalam', but these figures at least tell us that we are Web 2.0 engaged.
