Rediscover Brunei Darussalam through the eyes of the People

Sunday, 07 November 2010 19:25

Hey Readers! My plea to Technorati worked!

And one of their staff even left a comment and a wink.

Cool.

Here's a screen shot...

Maybe I should rethink my stance on the whole casual thing.

Dear Technorati,

Greetings. This is the fella behind @BruneiTweet. Today I registered my site at your site, and let me get straight to the point. I am hoping we can be friends...if possible, 'special' friends. Oh, you know what I mean. First, you told me you want to 'claim' my site, and that you want me to put up the code word F53QAVDFG9BE up for everyone to see. So there. F53QAVDFG9BE. I guess now we are officially an item.

What? You want to send over a few Robots to check out my site first? Robots? Hmm. Okay I guess. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine...but listen, you need to know I am in this for the long haul...I don't do 'casual' or one-offs. I will give you all the space you need to grow and be yourself, and perhaps the same can be extended to me. The word on the street is that you're kind of like a celebrity in the social media scene, and that if I am seen with you, I get special...privileges. I mean, I have seen some of my friends chilling with you, e.g. Anak BruneiBrunei ResourcesJayden Sia, etc...so, maybe one day we could chill out too.

Tell you what, as a token of my friendship, I'll even add a picture of you to let my friends know we're trying to make things work. I hope your Robots find what they want, and bring back a good word to you.

Looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,

@BruneiTweet

Greetings Readers! The last two weeks have been amazing! First there was the 3D event at The Mall, then there was the Borneo Colours weekend, and then there was the Boustead Family Day event, and well, the list goes on and on. I have much to share and detail about why I decided it was time to reveal myself, but for now, I want to bring you on a walk down memory lane. Everyone has a Story, myself included...and these are the different profile pictures I have used to date.

Youz Chooz!

Hello again Readers! It is time for the next limited edition @BruneiTweet t-shirt contest!

I am coining it the "Youz Chooz" contest, and here's why. I have pulled out my drawing board, and as with the previous two, I am keeping it minimalistic in design...but this time, you get to vote on the colour scheme - i.e. "Youz Chooz" the colours!

You have a choice of three colour schemes and to keep voting as simple as possible, I have organised a set of questions through SurveyMonkey.com (see below), which also includes a few other questions which helps me know a little more about you. So, here are the t-shirts...

About the Editor

new about me profI am a born and bred Bruneian who lived and worked in Australia for over 10 years. I am now based in Brunei. Having spent time away from Brunei, I have learnt that, to know a country is to know the people. To truly appreciate a new place is to see it through their eyes, to listen to their stories, to taste, smell, do and feel as they do.

Everyone has a Story, and this blog - Projek Brunei, features the stories, music, photography and art of locals and of people who have lived or worked in Brunei before. Join me on this project, a project to discover and rediscover this country they call the Abode of Peace, the Heart of Borneo, this place they call the Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures...through the stories of the People.

You may know me by my online moniker, @BruneiTweet. I created BruneiTweet in 2009, and currently (October 2016), I have over 30,000 followers. I am passionate about community, and use social media to connect with people - both on and offline.

I have an MBA, a keen interest in business-development and marketing, and I am a three-time TEDx speaker. I believe in the power of social media and collaboration. I have worked alongside corporate organisations on various community projects. Some highlights from my journey to date: In 2011, I co-organised Twestival Brunei to raise awareness and funds for Brunei’s Child Development Centre. That year I also organised Convergence, Brunei’s first youth led leadership forum. In 2012, I co-organised Movember to raise awareness on men's health issues. In 2013, I participated at various forums including Brunei's National Environment Conference and the ASEAN Social Media Exchange in Thailand. In 2014, I was selected to represent Brunei at the Australia-ASEAN Emerging Leaders Programme. In 2015, I was involved as a panel moderator in an International Women's Day event, and was invited to speak at the Green Leaders Eco-Camp in Brunei about using social media with purpose.

But enough about me.
