What do you do?
I am a not-so-secret espionage agent, sent to spy on people involved in subversive activities!Ooooh…spy work. Nice. What are three perks of being a spy? =)
I get to travel anytime I want, wake up whenever, and I can wear cat suits.Describe yourself in three words.
Foodie, Traveler, Beach-bum (hyphen makes it one word!) ---> I'm also pedantic.
What is your fondest childhood memory?
It was almost Maghrib and I was running home from my neighbour's house cause my mum says there's a lot of 'creatures' roaming around during Maghrib. Suddenly a little grey kitten with a nubbin of a tail ran beside me like a guardian angel. We named her Gurey, as in grey, because we're pathetically uncreative with names; we also have a Putih...and Creamy. Since then our family adopted her and we became best friends but I never found out where she came from or why she just appeared out of no where (the whole language barrier thing gets in the way sometimes). You’re the voice behind Turquoise and Roses. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since August 2005! My current blog address is http://maurina.wordpress.com/. Come and visit my blog, it's free! What do you blog about mostly?
It gets pretty random but basically it's life in Brunei as seen from my eyes. I try to keep it interesting. If not, I just don't update HAHA. :PYou have been blogging since 2005, and loads of people love yourblog. Please share three blogging tips.
1. DoN'T wRiTe LiKe tHis, iT's aNNoyiNg.
2. Don't put music on your site no matter what!!! If we want to listen to music, we'll go on YouTube.
3. Keep the blog design clean and crisp. Without the clutter, your content (which is what people come for) will shine.
One of your recent projects was the Brunei Foodies Go Pink! Project. Tell us about it, and who else was involved?
One of the great things about blogging is that you get to do things like this and you generally get a lot of support. The Pink! Project is a good will effort between me, Senor Pablo, Marul, Sasbrownies, Kurapak and My7thlife with the support of RanoAdidas, trying to get the community to actively participate in fund-raising for the Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group. It is hoped that this collaborative effort will raise our awareness of this disease so we're not be scared to be examined and to know our own bodies. The project hopes to spread more positive feelings among the community so that they know with early detection, there is life after cancer, a wonderful one at that where your senses are amplified. We were very happy with the various levels of participation that's too many to mention! Some creatively by submitting recipes as we've received almost 50 mouth watering recipes. Some monetary by sponsoring prizes and such...but our most generous donor is BIBD, who actually approached us to cover the whole cost of production for book printing!!! It really warms the heart to know we live in such a caring and supportive community. :)Name a 'must-visit' place in Brunei, and why.
I want to say Pelong Rocks because it's got the most awesome under-water sights I've ever seen. However, if many people suddenly go there, the damn things will be gone in two years time. SO STAY AWAY!!! PELONG HAS CROCODILES.
What do you hope to achieve in three years' time?I hope to be skinnier and at least 4 inches taller. Thanks.
