It is not easy being a model

Greetings Readers! I have been invited to be the official online media partner for the upcoming International Wedding Showcase from 16th June 2011 to 19th June 2011. More on that later, but first I want to share my recent experience covering one of their bridal wear photography shoots. Now, watching a fashion-related television program is one thing, but actually being there as it was all happening was such an eye opening experience for me. It all took place at BJE Studio, Serusop and a lot of time, effort, coordination, planning and hard work went into getting Mia (the model) ready. A lot.

I was able to chat briefly with "Dewi d' Diva" whose catchphrase is "find the Diva in you...". Dewi was in charge of Mia's make up at the shoot, and she has been a professional make up artist for eight years. I spoke with Hajah Lina who was involved in the very elegant custom-made wedding gown, and I also spoke with Aiman and Adam who were in charge of the photography shoot that afternoon. I eventually got to sneak in a chat with Mia. Mia has been modeling since 2001, and she spoke about her beginnings as a model, her preparation routine before photography shoots, and how she gets inspiration from Victoria's Secret.

A lot was happening all at once at the studio, but for me, the highlight of that afternoon was watching the photography shoot take place. It is hard to describe...but it was like watching a well choreographed dance between Mia, Aiman and Adam. Adam gave firm directions, Aiman anchored him, and Mia very expertly responded with subtle but very important adjustments. At times, verbal directive was provided, but at other times, it was like the three of them were reading each other's minds.

After a busy afternoon, I eventually left with new insight from Dewi about the importance of balance and vision when applying make up, from Hajah Lina about how it is crucial to have an expert wedding dress-maker, from Aiman and Adam about what photographers described as the "eye", and from Mia about the importance of being backed by a great team. I also left with a fresh excitement about the upcoming International Wedding Showcase in June 2011.

The Showcase in June 2011 is organised by El Ricco Digital & Multumedia, Project Brand and S Team Solutions Event Management, and it is part of the International Women's Fair at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. It is the event for couples with upcoming weddings as there will be vendors on deck to help you dream, visualise and prepare for your Big Day. Additionally, if you are a business owner with wedding-related products or services, the Showcase will be an opportune time to meet new clients and get your brand out there for exposure. There is still time to reserve booths for your business; just click here for more information or call (+673) 8203850 or (+673) 8879909.

Big Love!
