BIBD Charity Expedition 2012

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives announced that it will be organising its second charity expedition for the community. This year’s expedition is dubbed “Charity Expedition for ALAF” or CE-ALAF. It is aimed to help underprivileged students in their educational progression through a systematic sponsorship scheme under the BIBD ALAF programme. ALAF stands for Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future.
The expedition also carries the tagline ‘One Step, One Pedal, One Education’.
With one of the nation’s major aspirations being to build a well-educated and highly skilled human resources, BIBD feels obligated to play a role to support the nation’s plans by providing opportunities of educational progression to these underprivileged students through the BIBD ALAF programme. This not be a one-time programme but a long-term one.
As a start to raise funds for this programme, the Charity Expedition will consist of running, cycling and a charity bazaar. The CE-ALAF will feature five different sporting events namely 2.5km Fun Run, 5km Run, 10km Run, 21km Half-Marathon and a 53km Cycling Expedition. CE-ALAF hopes to promote a healthy lifestyle as well as to encourage public awareness through fitness on the aims of the programme.
Registration fees: 2.5km Fun Run - $10, 5km Run - $15, 10km Run - $35, 21km Half Marathon - $40, 53km Cycling - $25
Physical registration forms can also be obtained at selected BIBD branches: Main Branch, Kiulap Branch, Manggis Branch, Temburong Branch, Tutong Branch and Kuala Belait Branch. Physical registration forms are limited and are only available on a first come first serve basis. Note: It is also important to note that photocopied or scanned copies of the registration forms will not be accepted.
Registration ends on September 15. Upon registration, participants will be given donation cards to encourage members of the public to contribute to this charity drive. Donation cards can be collected from now until September 30 at Main Branch in the Capital. Starting September 10 until September 30 donation cards can be collected at: Main Branch, Kiulap Branch, Manggis Branch, Temburong Branch, Tutong Branch and Kuala Belait Branch.
Donation cards have to be returned during the Race Entry Pack Collection days from 7 - 9 October 2012 at the Indoor Stadium, Jalan Berakas.
The 10km Run and the 21km Half-Marathon are competitive races where the runners can win marathon packages to Melboune, Hongkong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu. First, Second and Third prize winners will also receive an exclusive winners T-Shirt together with winning medals. Participants for the 10 and 21 km categories will also be receiving finishers medals upon completing the race within a set time.
